The story of Hillsboro’s drinking water is over 100 years old and is a tale of ingenuity and vision. Working together, early 20th century community leaders secured the water source that provides Hillsboro its drinking water today and that has been a key element in the community growing from a small, farm-centric town into the diversified, thriving city it is today.
We are excited to celebrate the value that public water service has brought to Hillsboro over the last century. Hillsboro has grown into a regional leader in the protection, treatment and delivery of high quality water to our customers in Hillsboro and western Washington County. We strive to instill complete confidence in our customers that we will protect public health, provide fire protection and support for the local economy, and deliver a great-tasting product right to the customer’s tap, 24 hours a day year-round.
We maintain approximately 250 miles of distribution lines across the city, delivering water to more than 24,000 homes and businesses in our service area. We do all of this with an eye to the future, making sure we have plentiful sources for water as our community keeps growing great things.
