The City of Hillsboro’s Planning Department is focused on land use and transportation planning—that includes everything from what constitutes a permitted use for a specific piece of property, to requirements related to density, setbacks and subdivision of land, not to mention how to drive, walk, or bike within the City. We also work to make it easy for people to get around between neighborhoods, schools, parks and businesses—not just today, but for years to come. We even plan for communities that don’t yet exist, so we’ll be ready to welcome new neighbors as Hillsboro continues growing great things.
We spend much of our time working with developers. We encourage them to get in touch with us as soon as they have a client interested in building something in Hillsboro. We even offer pre-application meetings at no charge, so developers can meet with representatives from Planning and other City departments to understand what they might encounter with their project, and ways we can make the process easier for them. It gives developers a good running start with their applications, and often means faster approval from the department.
We work with residents too, helping them to understand what they can do with their property, and resolving issues they may have concerning other properties within the city.
