October 13: Bat Chat! - Oregon’s Bats: Beneficial Creatures in Need of Our Help
A special Halloween edition of Science Pub Hillsboro with Susan Barnes, Wildlife Conservation Biologist with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW).

Oregon is home to 15 species of bats, all insectivorous and all species of growing conservation concern. These fascinating and often misunderstood creatures have a vital role in ecological health, yet they face many threats including habitat loss, loss of prey, human disturbance, climate change, and disease. Join Susan Barnes, ODFW Wildlife Conservation Biologist, to learn about basic bat ecology, why bats are in trouble, and what ODFW and bat conservation partners are doing to conserve them. You will learn more about these amazing creatures and what you can do to help them. ODFW’s bat education kit will also be on display.
