Exhibit: Time & Place

June 2 to July 17, 2026All in a Day's Work by Clement Lee

Jeff Jurrens, Clement Lee, Christopher Mooney

The built environment is never finished. It accumulates in layers of paint, in markings drawn onto pavement, in the bridges that reshape a skyline and the workers that make them possible.

Jeff Jurrens approaches the built environment through abstraction, building up layered surfaces through repeated applications of paint. His gestural process is accumulative and physical, centering material and movement. Underlying layers are partially obscured yet remain visible, emphasizing painting itself as a form of construction. The work visibly carries its own history, acting as a record of time, decision, and chance.

Clement Lee’s work addresses what is below the surface. His paintings borrow the visual language of utility markings, the spray-painted symbols and codes that indicate what runs beneath streets and sidewalks. The systems that carry water, power, and communication are everywhere underfoot, but almost never seen. Lee’s work reveals these often-unseen networks that make urban structures and life possible.

Christopher B Mooney’s paintings treat Oregon’s urban infrastructure as monument. Bridges, overpasses, and industrial structures fill his canvases at a scale that insists on their significance. Equally present are the workers who build and maintain them, figures whose labor is usually absorbed into the finished object. Mooney refuses that erasure, highlighting both the structures and human effort behind them at the same scale.

These artists ask what it means to make a place, and how much of that making tends to stay invisible. Time & Place proposes that the city is not a backdrop, but an ongoing act built by hands and sustained by systems that rarely make it into the frame.
