Playgrounds, Sports Courts, and Public Recreation Equipment Closed

The City of Hillsboro has closed all playgrounds, sports courts, and public recreation equipment effective March 23 at noon.

Parks and Trails Open

All Hillsboro parks and trails will remain open for exercise and walking, but community members should take the need for social distancing seriously and maintain at least six feet separation from others.

Creative Aging: The Significance of Art for the Aging Brain

  • Introduction: In this presentation, artist and instructor Elizabeth M. Higgins will share her knowledge about the significance of art for the aging brain, as well as provide an engaging creative activity for attendees.

Elizabeth HigginsWhen it comes to preserving our mental and physical abilities as we age, the adage “use it or lose it” has been confirmed by recent studies in the field of neuroscience. Findings from current creativity experts have further strengthened the case for using the arts to improve the quality of life for older adults through creative expression and meaningful social engagement, while either creating art or simply viewing and experiencing it in various forms.  

In this presentation, artist and instructor Elizabeth M. Higgins will share her knowledge about the significance of art for the aging brain, as well as provide an engaging creative activity for attendees.
