Seattle artist, Beliz Brother, designed the Plaza's public art. Stainless steel "blossoms" are strung by cable high above the plaza and are reminiscent of the plum trees cultivated by the Oregon Nursery Company that founded the town of Orenco over a century ago. Her artwork is attached to tall grey metal poles styled like "fascines" - to resemble bundles of twigs, the way a nursery might bundle young trees together before transport and line the entire plaza. The artistic blossoms cast shadows on the ground on sunny days and illuminate at night by LED lights. Several fascine poles and blossoms are also in place on the Northwest 231st side of the plaza, creating a small entrance "keyhole" there.
The glass TriMet shelter that sits on the plaza was also designed by Brother. The plum blossoms are etched into the glass and shadows cast by the shelter glass and the steel blossoms are similar.
Poetry by Oregon poet Kim Stafford is engraved in a circular design to resemble tree rings and sits on the eastern part of the plaza.Plaza Rules & Regulations
