Changes in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Emergency Responders
Hillsboro firefighters and police officers are taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of coronavirus
Protecting our personnel and the patients we see remains our top priority. Using guidance from the CDC and OHA to minimize the potential spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Hillsboro Fire & Rescue Department firefighters and paramedics may wear enhanced protective equipment to keep themselves, you, and your family members safe.
Protective enhancements include wearing gowns, gloves, eye protection, and masks, when specific symptoms or patient history is known or suspected. These enhanced measures are precautionary and do not mean that a patient has tested positive for Coronavirus.
Police Department personnel train regularly on avoiding pathogens during the course of their work. Many of the same practices would apply to viral exposure. They also maintain a limited amount of Personal Protective Equipment.
