Hillsboro Libraries and Parks & Recreation Facilities Will Remain Closed Through End of May
City of Hillsboro Public Library and Parks &Recreation facilities will remain closed to the public through the end of May, with all related programs canceled, in support of the continued efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
City crews will make use of the closures to perform maintenance and facility improvements, while Library staff continues to provide online services and work with WCCLS on resuming services throughout Washington County. But the facilities themselves will remain closed to the public.
Earlier this week, the City of Hillsboro announced that facility closures will continue into May, with a community update on closures to be provided no later than Monday, May 18 — including for Library and Parks & Recreation.
On April 14, 2020, Governor Kate Brown announced that, in order to begin reopening communities, Oregon must first slow the spread of COVID-19, as well as acquire adequate personal protective equipment to protect health care workers and first responders.
In March, the City announced that all facilities would remain closed through Tuesday, April 28. The City Council has twice voted to extend the State of Emergency declaration first issued on March 13. The emergency declaration is expected to continue into May as well.
