Hillsboro Senior Center Partners to Deliver Food

Post Date:05/19/2020

Meals on Wheels People and the Hillsboro Community Senior Center have partnered to create a program that brings extra groceries to older individuals who are homebound during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Senior Center staff pick up donations daily from Trader Joe’s, sort the food into bags, and drop them off at the Meals on Wheels People Hillsboro Center. Drivers from Meals on Wheels then add a bag of groceries to each meal delivered.

“Many of those we serve are unable to leave their homes or are reluctant to go out to get groceries,” said Gloria Cox, Meals on Wheels People Hillsboro Coordinator. “The extra bag of food goes a long way to easing their anxiety — and gives them some extra nutrition.”

To sign up for assistance, contact the Meals on Wheels People Intake Line at 503-953-8111.
