La Strada dei Pastelli Chalk Art Festival
Two-Day Festival Brings Art, Community & Economic Development Together in Downtown Hillsboro
Hillsboro’s Main Street will transform into an outdoor gallery where vivid pastel drawings line the street when La Strada dei Pastelli returns to Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts District July 19 & 20.
Attendees from around the region will watch as larger-than-life chalk art drawings emerge from initial sketches on the pavement and transform into stunning, full-color masterpieces. In addition to street painting, the immersive, open-air festival will feature local musicians, food and drinks, a vendor market, and activities for the whole family.

PLUS: Chalk Art Stroll on Monday, July 21 — streets reopen on Tuesday morning, July 22
Produced by Tualatin Valley Creates and supported by the City of Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts District, the festival has become a signature event for the heart of the Silicon Forest.
La Strada, a professional-caliber chalk art festival, draws tens of thousands of spectators and was estimated to generate over $1 million in local spending and economic impact.
For one day after the event, the footprint will remain a pedestrian-only zone to give residents and visitors additional time to enjoy the art. Called the Monday Chalk Art Stroll, it’s a popular opportunity for festivalgoers to return and see the final pieces in full glory while shopping and eating Downtown.
The festival runs from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The event remains open to pedestrians through the Monday Chalk Art Stroll.
Spreading Economic Benefits Equitably
While La Strada attracts a national spotlight, the event remains highly focused on the local benefits. Free, family friendly, and easily accessed by public transportation, La Strada the professional quality and scale sets it apart from other art events.
Even though admission is free, La Strada dei Pastelli generates economic benefit to Hillsboro each year as attendees spend on food, drinks, and more during their visit. Much of this spending is with local businesses, including restaurants and retail shops, benefiting the Hillsboro economy. The rest goes to on-site vendors selling their art and crafts.
“This event highlights what makes our City, Downtown, and Cultural Arts District special,” Hillsboro Cultural Arts District Manager Bridie Harrington said. “We look forward to welcoming diverse artists, makers, residents, and visitors of all ages to enjoy La Strada and activate our vital, creative Hillsboro together.”
