Hillsboro Economic & Community Development Director Dan Dias was presented with the 2024 Distinguished Service Award by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce on December 5.

Distinguished Service Award

From the Chamber's Award program: 

"Dan, exemplifies visionary leadership and dedication to fostering economic growth and innovation. With almost twenty years of experience in economic development, real estate, land use planning, and public policy, Dan has been a driving force behind Hillsboro's continued prosperity. 

In his role, Dan oversees the North Hillsboro Industrial Renewal Area, the Downtown Urban Renewal Area, and strategic real estate and infrastructure projects that strengthen the City's economic foundation. He has played a pivotal role in managing key industrial and business expansions, including Intel Ronler Acres MOD2 Fab expansion, Adobe Systems Data Center, First Tech Regional Office Campus, and Reser's Fine Foods processing facility. His efforts have attracted significant investments across industries, creating jobs and bolstering Hillsboro's reputation as a hub of innovation. 

A champion of collaboration, Dan has cultivated strong partnerships with the business community, ensuring their needs are prioritized and their voices heard. By streamlining development processes and advocating for business-friendly policies, Dan has fostered an environment where businesses can thrive. His holistic approach to growth balances economic development with sustainability, positioning Hillsboro as a forward-thinking and vibrant city.

Before becoming Director, Dan served as Development Services Manager for the Hillsboro Planning Department, supporting key planning and development initiatives. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Legislative Assistant in the Oregon Senate and in the home building industry, experiences that shaped his expertise in public policy and development. 

For his dedication to service, collaboration, and community impact, Dan Dias is a deserving recipient of the 2024 Distinguished Service Award. His leadership and vision continue to shape a brighter future for Hillsboro."
