Winter Break Family Fun with Hillsboro Parks & Recreation

School’s out, adventure is on!

Spend the holiday break splashing in the pool, exploring the wetlands, enjoying indoor play, shooting hoops, or hunting down a new favorite playground. Move, play, and enjoy time together with family and friends. 

Hillsboro Parks & Recreation makes no-school days feel wide open, energizing, and full of possibilities.

Splash into school-free days! Play under the splash umbrella, zoom down the water slide, meet friends, stay active, and have nonstop family fun.

hildaDrop-in Play with Hilda the Adventure Squirrel

Meet Hilda the Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Adventure Squirrel! Enjoy learning games, creative crafts, and active sports for ages 3 – 7 and specially designed with preschoolers in mind. Stay warm and dry with indoor play out of the rain, and keep kids busy, happy, and moving.

Mondays: December 22 & December 29
9 to 11 am

$5 Resident, $6 Non-Resident
Children must be supervised by an adult.
Adults attend free.

OIPlay @ Outdoors In

Get the wiggles out at this indoor playground in Downtown Hillsboro! Explore the full-size playground with places to climb and slide, enjoy a wide variety of toys and dolls, plus, try the NEOS whole-body gaming system with different games and challenges. Outdoors In is open to all ages but often enjoyed most by ages 6 and under. 

Public Play

Monday – Friday: 9 am to 12 pm & 1:30 to 4:30 pm
Saturday: 8:30 to 10:30 am & 10:45 am to 12:45 pm
Sensory Sensitive Play is Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. This is a quieter time with lower lights and shades.

HCCCGym Games, Sports, Hangouts & Play 

Enjoy winter break fun at Hidden Creek Community Center! Families can jump into basketball, pickleball, and Gymtastics Play Zone during open gym. Don't miss times specially for teens, whether in the gym or during Ohana No School Day Hangouts. Plus, check out all ability drop-in games activities including basketball and Sensory Playtime. Stay warm, stay moving, and enjoy a welcoming space for everyone to play, spend time with friend and family, and burn off holiday energy together.

Nature-CenterWetlands & Nature Center Exploration

Include a trip to the wetlands as part of your break. Enjoy crisp mornings trail walks (bundled up) for an easy family adventure to see migrating birds, winter critters, and a themed Story Walk. Then head into the Nature Center to explore hands-on exhibits about local plants and animals. It’s a calm, curious, screen-free way to enjoy time together and reconnect with nature and the great outdoors.

Trails are open sunrise to sunset daily.
The Nature Center is open 10 am to 4 pm Monday – Saturday
$2 suggested donation per family
