Celebrate Catherine Bede Gallery Anniversary at Hillsboro Art Walk
For the past decade, the Catherine Bede Gallery has helped shape Downtown Hillsboro’s growing arts community, creating a space where local artists, residents, and visitors can connect through creativity in the heart of the Cultural Arts District.
Now in a new space at 136 SE 3rd Avenue, the Catherine Bede Gallery will celebrate its 10th anniversary during Hillsboro Art Walk on Tuesday, June 2 from 5 to 8 pm.
Community members are invited to join an evening of art, music, and appreciation. The celebration at the gallery will include giveaways for the first 60 visitors, cake, wine tasting, a raffle basket featuring artwork from member artists, and live music presented in partnership with Influence Music Hall and the City of Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts District.
Alongside showcasing work from regional artists, the gallery has expanded workshop and class offerings, providing hands-on opportunities for people of all ages and experience levels to explore painting, mixed media, and other creative practices. The gallery’s recent move into a larger storefront has helped support that growth, creating more room for both exhibitions and community programming.
Supporters say the gallery has played an important role in strengthening Hillsboro’s creative economy and making art approachable and accessible. Visitors can browse original artwork alongside affordable greeting cards, prints, and handmade gifts at a range of price points.
The anniversary event at Catherine Bede Gallery will feature works by member artists Catherine Bede, Lori Hicke, Theresa Kotvis, Sheila Chugani Baumgardner, and JoAnn Wellner, along with guest artist Shamalee Rajapakse and her abstract paintings.
