Council Spotlight: Councilor Anthony Martin
Council experience: Anthony was elected to the Hillsboro City Council in November 2016. His current term expires in January 2021.
Community experience: Anthony has lived in Hillsboro since 2015. A member of the Hillsboro Food Co-Op, Anthony enjoys supporting and shopping at local businesses. He and his wife Amanda (pictured lower left) love attending community events and exploring Hillsboro’s parks and trails. Anthony also loves playing musical instruments, including the ukulele and the banjo.
Education and work experience: Anthony graduated from Banks High School and lived in Buxton on a goat farm. He then received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon in Spanish and Political Science. Anthony worked as a commercial fisherman in southeast Alaska as a way to pay for college. He then received his Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Anthony works as a financial and economic consultant for cities and utilities across the Pacific Northwest.
Why serve on the Hillsboro City Council?
I am proud to call Hillsboro my home and I want to help our community. One of my goals is to make sure everyone has a voice. Local government is the best way to improve people’s lives and make a difference.
