Call to Action: You Can Help Reduce Roadway Flooding
Leaves are falling and the rainy season is back. This combination can cause leaves to clog storm drains, resulting in roadway flooding when it rains.
Here are three ways that City of Hillsboro residents can help reduce roadway flooding:
- Regularly check storm drains near their property to ensure they aren’t blocked by leaves.
- Make sure gutters and downspouts are clear.
- Keep yard debris piles away from drainage ditches and streams.
To report flooding or downed trees in the street, contact the City of Hillsboro Public Works Department at 503-615-6509 during business hours, or 503-629-0111 after business hours.
Please note: a sandbag fill site is open at the Fairgrounds tennis courts at NE 28th Avenue and NE Veterans Drive. Bring your own shovel to fill bags.
