Progress Report: Street and Sidewalk Safety Updates

These safety projects throughout Hillsboro are improving City streets and sidewalks for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

  • New pavement on Griffin Oaks StreetNE Griffin Oaks Street is open to two-way traffic again. The project, funded by the Transportation Utility Fee, replaced the pavement between NE 15th and 25th avenues and improved the existing storm sewer.

  • Hillsboro's Transportation System Plan (TSP) will serve as the blueprint for the City's transportation investments over the next 20 years. Get involved in the plan's update at

  • The City of Hillsboro's Safe Routes to School Program is helping physical education teachers at Hillsboro School District elementary schools to share traffic and pedestrian safety lessons with students.A road with yellow lights compared to a road with white LED lights
  • The LED Streetlight Conversion Project kicked off in February. The Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lights are expected to last four times longer than the current high-pressure sodium bulbs and use half the energy.
