Traffic Advisory: Temporary Road Closure at NE Lenox Street and Lorie Drive During Culvert Replacement Project
In early July 2018, the City of Hillsboro will begin work with local contractor Pacific Excavation to replace an existing storm sewer culvert in Glencoe Creek with a new, 75 feet long, 20 feet wide, and seven feet deep concrete culvert under the intersection of NE Lenox Street and NE Lorie Drive.
In order to install the new culvert and then reconstruct the road, NE Lorie Drive from NE Lenox Street to NE Lindsey Drive will be temporarily closed to through traffic but open to local traffic during the months of July and August.
The completion of this project will prevent Glencoe Creek from flowing over the top of the roadway during large storm events. It is the City’s intent to complete the work prior to the start of school in the fall.
Local access to homes in the immediate vicinity of construction will be maintained at all times. During work, the City will coordinate with emergency responders – including Police, Fire, and EMS - as well as other service providers such as the postal service and garbage haulers to limit inconvenience to the neighborhood. There will be heavy equipment and trucks temporarily located at the construction site. Local residents may experience some noise as the new culvert is installed.
