During First Tuesday Art Walk, you’ll get the chance to meet artists and see their art on display in galleries and restaurants, hear an acoustic set by a local musician, dance to a full band in a local business, see performers practice their craft on stage, leave with a one-of-a-kind handmade item by a local artisan, or make your own art project to take home. All of this is nestled between local restaurants, bars, retail shops, and businesses covering the twelve blocks between 1st and 5th Avenues, and Washington and Lincoln Streets with an easy walk from one place to another. Michele McCall-Wallace, Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts Manager, notes, “There is something for everyone and it is a great way to enjoy the arts, support our local businesses, and connect to the community…and it’s a free event too!”

Make the Walters Cultural Arts Center your first stop before you head Downtown. In May, the Walters expanded its hours and activities to feature arts and culture on all three floors during First Tuesday Art Walk. Now you’ll find art on display in both the upstairs and downstairs galleries, a family-friendly art activity in one of the classrooms, live music, and artists selling hand-made items such as jewelry, functional ceramics, and handmade cards in the lobby. Each month features an artist talk, demonstration, or a special presentation by a local arts and cultural organization to round out your experience.
