Rood Bridge Park Celebration of Art & Nature: Saturday, August 25, 11 am – 3 pm
The City of Hillsboro invites the public to inaugurate the new accessible watercraft launch in Rood Bridge Park with a celebration of art and nature on Saturday, August 25 from 11 am to 3 pm.
Art and nature activities will spread throughout the park, providing opportunities for all ages to enjoy both creative experiences and the natural wonders of Rood Bridge Park.
Go on a short excursion on the river with free canoe rides provided by Tualatin Riverkeepers. First time paddlers, families, or experienced canoers are welcome to explore this area of the Tualatin River Water Trail. Enjoy guided nature and bird walks, letterboxing, geocaching, and nature activities from from Jackson Bottom Nature Center, while the Washington County Museum highlights the habitat and history of the park.
Art will fill the park, with painters from Sequoia Gallery + Studios setting up their easels to paint from nature and members of The Edwardian Society of Oregon in authentic period dress creating picturesque scenes as they sketch and picnic on the lawns. Enjoy engaging hands-on art activities at the River House and in the picnic shelters, where Portland Opera will sing favorites and requests.
This event is free and open to all. People are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy in the park. Food trucks will be on site with food and treats for purchase.
With thanks to our partner organizations: Tualatin Riverkeepers, Sequoia Gallery + Studios, Portland Opera, Washington County Museum, and The Edwardian Society of Oregon.
