Temporary Road Closure on SE Minter Bridge Road August 20-21

Post Date:08/08/2018 11:01 am

Drivers and bicyclists will enjoy a safer commute on SE Minter Bridge Road after the City of Hillsboro Public Works Department completes pavement maintenance later this month.

Travelers will need to find an alternate route on Monday, August 20, and Tuesday, August 21, as City crews close vehicle and bicycle access to SE Minter Bridge Road — between TV Highway and SE River Road —  to perform their work. Pedestrians will still have access to sidewalks during this time.

SE Minter Bridge Road Closure and Detour Map

This preventative maintenance project is part of the City of Hillsboro’s Pavement Management Program (PMP). The program strives to make the most effective use of resources to preserve and upgrade the overall condition of the network of over 230.8 centerline miles of roadway maintained by the City.

Project Details

  • Local access to homes and businesses in the immediate vicinity of construction will be maintained at all times.
  • During work, the City will coordinate with emergency responders — including Police, Fire, and EMS — as well as other service providers, such as the postal service and garbage haulers to limit inconvenience to the neighborhood.
  • There will be heavy equipment and trucks temporarily located at the construction site.
  • Local residents and businesses may experience some noise during work hours from 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Traffic will be detoured around the worksite using SE River Road to Tualatin Valley Highway, or SE River Road to SE 24th Avenue.
  • TriMet Bus Line 57-TV Hwy/Forest Grove (Stop ID 5598 at SE Tualatin Valley Hwy and Minter Bridge Eastbound) won’t be interrupted during the project.

Each year, City employees visually inspect and evaluate the condition of all arterial and collector roadways, such as Minter Bridge Road. The City looks for common distresses, such as loss of aggregates, cracks, and distortions to help determine what is going on beneath the pavement, as well as the surface of the roadway. This information is then captured in the pavement management database, which prioritizes and recommends transportation improvements within the City's rights of way. PMP projects are typically funded through a mixture of the Transportation Utility Fee (TUF), State and County gas taxes, and State and County Vehicle registration fees.

The City of Hillsboro thanks customers for their patience as this necessary improvement project is completed. Learn more about the City’s PMP program online.
