With checks in hand, a line of 39 people representing Hillsboro-area nonprofit organizations wrapped around the front of the Civic Center Auditorium during the December 4, 2018 Hillsboro City Council meeting. The 39 representatives were excited to receive varying grant awards from the City of Hillsboro’s Community Services Grant Program for the 2018-19 Fiscal Year.
Hillsboro City Councilors presented a total of $200,000 in grant awards to 39 organizations that provide impactful services in Hillsboro, including housing assistance, domestic violence resources, veterans assistance, meal delivery, and more.
The number of recipients and the grant award values have increased substantially since Hillsboro’s Community Services Grant Program began during the 1992-93 Fiscal Year. Back then, the program awarded a total of $15,000.
The program’s largest funding increase occurred last year when the City Council agreed to double the total amount of grant awards from $100,000 to $200,000.
