Transportation Planning in Hillsboro: What's Next?
See what's next for the City's Transportation System Plan update.
Last summer, people told the City of Hillsboro where transportation in Hillsboro needs the most love and attention — by sharing 1,300 comments in the City's online tool.
Since then, City transportation planners have been analyzing that input to identify potential solutions that will improve how everyone gets around Hillsboro in the years to come.
The 1,300 comments were grouped into 15 categories, with safety being the top highlighted concern. Safety was mentioned in 17% of all comments — with attention split evenly on driving, bicycling, and walking.
Other focal points included intersection and road design, signal locations and timing, and sidewalks.
Five Modes to Focus on
The TSP update is organized into five modes of transportation that people use to get around Hillsboro:
A new website tool at Hillsboro-Oregon.gov/TSP highlights the top five issues and locations that need attention for each transportation mode, along with other key factors planners are considering in updating the Transportation System Plan, such as safety and equity.
