The Hillsboro City Council has adopted the City's Budget for Fiscal Year 2019-20 following unanimous approval in May from the City's Budget Committee.

Hillsboro’s annual budget prioritizes and focuses City resources to meet the community’s needs and maintain the City’s long-term financial health. The budget also dedicates resources to provide programs and services for residents, and to maintain City assets, such as buildings, parks, streets, equipment, and other infrastructure.

2019-20 Budget Highlights

  • Support for a diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy
  • Funding to provide affordable housing grants and address homelessness
  • Construction of the Hillsboro Community Center at 53rd Avenue
  • Investment in a public safety training facility site
  • Road improvements and maintenance projects
  • Support for HiLight high-speed internet service
  • Completion of LED street light conversion
  • Purchase of a Police Department mobile command unit
  • Replacement of a Fire & Rescue Department tiller truck
  • Additional City staff to address community growth
  • Continuation of work on the Willamette Water Supply Program

The budget reflects City Council priorities, community goals outlined in the Hillsboro 2035 Community Plan, and the City’s mission and core values.

In 2019, the City of Hillsboro Finance Department earned its eighth consecutive Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association — the highest form of recognition in government budgeting.

The funding for programs, services, and projects included in the budget, will take effect on July 1.
