The Information Services Department work may be somewhat behind-the-scenes, but we love what we do to provide technology support services to help all City of Hillsboro departments and staff provide the best possible services to the community. We focus on two main areas: Information Technology, including Audio Visual Support, Computer Support, Network Support and Telecommunications, and Information Systems including the Development teams for database and website projects, GIS (map) Support and Systems Analysts.

Information Services Director Greg Mont jokes that his job essentially makes him the City of Hillsboro’s chief computer geek. In reality, Greg is trusted to ensure that City of Hillsboro employees have a working computer, phone or radio, along with the training and software to make use of those tools.

Greg leads a team of IS professionals responsible for providing and securing all communication technology services for the City. He joined Hillsboro in 1997 as a User Support Specialist and was later promoted to Network Administrator and Information Technology Manager. One of Greg’s favorite moments came in 2003 when he helped to set up and install all communication technology during the construction and opening of the Hillsboro Civic Center.

Greg earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wyoming. A husband and father of two teenage boys, Greg has focused on making a difference in the community by serving as an adult leader for Boy Scout Troup 873 and as a volunteer coach for Glencoe Youth Football.

His favorite quote comes from Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
