Volunteer Opportunities that Shape Your Community’s Future
Have you ever thought about using your unique skills and talents to serve your community and make Hillsboro a better place? Perhaps you’re interested in personal and professional growth or want additional networking opportunities. Or maybe you just love Hillsboro and want to engage in your community to enhance your civic pride. Volunteering on one of the City of Hillsboro’s boards and commissions can help you do all these things and more.
Hillsboro is seeking volunteers who can make a commitment to bettering our community. Please consider joining the group of dedicated volunteers who help our City run smoothly.
We currently have vacancies on the following boards and commissions starting January 2019: Arts & Culture Council, Parks & Recreation Commission, Historic Landmarks Advisory Committee, Planning Commissions, and Planning & Zoning Hearings Board.
Applications, can be completed electronically or submitted by hand, email, fax or mail to the City Recorder’s office (contact information found on the application). Applications are due by Friday, November 16.
Each board and commission is unique and may have its own set of requirements. In general, most require applicants to be residents and U.S. citizens who are over 18.
Appointments are at the discretion of the Mayor, with the approval of the City Council, and are made at the first Council meeting of the year on January 2, 2019. You do not need to attend the City Council meeting to be appointed.
