Councilor Olivia Alcaire

Image of Councilor Olivia AlcaireCouncilor Alcaire was appointed to the Hillsboro City Council in 2017. She currently serves on the Transportation Committee and the boards of three non-profit organizations - Bienestar, CREATE Alternative School, and Habitat for Humanity.

Through her work, Olivia learns about the needs of the most vulnerable citizens as well as low-income individuals/families and those experiencing homelessness. Olivia works as a Career Coach for Community Action by supporting SNAP recipients in securing stable housing and employment.  

Olivia has been working in higher education since 2003. She teaches college success courses at Portland Community College, and has supported many students in building their pathway from high school to college to a career by helping students know their options.

Originally from San Francisco, Olivia graduated from El Camino High School and later moved to Oregon where she attended Portland State University and Oregon State University; she is currently working to complete her doctoral dissertation in Education Leadership at Portland State University. In her free time, Olivia enjoys spending time cooking, gardening, and exploring the city at farmer’s markets, festivals, restaurants, museums, and more. She is a family member, homeowner, caregiver, and a community educator.
