The City of Hillsboro offers four cooling stations with air conditioning and water to help residents cope with the heat.
UPDATE: Damaged Chief Kno-Tah Sculpture Required Removal Due to Deteriorating Wood, Public Safety Risks
After months of careful evaluation, including expert recommendations from arborists and conservationists, the Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Department removed the damaged Chief Kno-Tah sculpture located in Shute Park in order to mitigate public safety risks. An arborist assessment by Northwest Tree Specialists determined the hollow wooden sculpture was decaying internally and infested with carpenter ants, even prior to the winter storm that damaged the art piece.
This year, the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council awarded a total of $49,057 in grants to 12 different organizations.
Hillsboro is one of two cities in Oregon honored with a 2017 Playful City USA designation.
