Citizens' Academy

Citizens' Academy is a FREE, twelve week program designed as an educational tool to facilitate communication and understanding of the police role in the community, while encouraging partnerships between law enforcement and citizens.

Community Enhancement Team (CET)

Our Community Enhancement Team of crime prevention specialists work in collaboration with patrol officers to foster new community relationships, while reducing crime and enhancing neighborhood livability. In addition, CET develops and coordinates a variety of department events, outreach materials, and safety presentations for the Hillsboro community.

Crime Prevention & Safety

The Neighborhood Watch Program has been in Hillsboro neighborhoods for many years and has brought Hillsboro's diverse communities together with law enforcement to address a variety of neighborhood issues and concerns.
Nobody knows your neighborhood better than you do, so your partnership in Neighborhood Watch is invaluable, as we work within your neighborhood and surrounding area.

Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT)

This volunteer-based DVRT program provides 24-hour on-scene crisis intervention response to victims of domestic/sexual violence and stalking in Hillsboro. Advocates are trained and work closely with police officers, the District Attorney’s Office and local victim resource groups

Graffiti Removal Program

The Graffiti Removal Program is committed to educating the public about the importance of reporting and removing graffiti as soon as it shows up in City neighborhoods. Graffiti should be reported to police prior to removal via Non-Emergency Dispatch, 503-629-0111.


 Help Me Home Thumb

Help Me Home Program

Help Me Home is a voluntary enrollment program for adults and children who may become lost and/or have difficulty communicating vital information about themselves. Those who are registered in this program have their identification photo and pertinent information placed in a database managed by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. This database can be accessed by any law enforcement officer in Washington County via laptops in their patrol vehicles.

Mediation Program

With the assistance of an impartial third party mediator, the Mediation Program is geared towards helping individuals communicate with each other and jointly resolving issues to avoid conflict escalation. Our volunteer mediators can assist with a variety of issues: neighbor conflicts, noise complaints, parent/teen relationships and more.


 National Night Out in Hillsboro

National Night Out (NNO)

Always the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out (NNO) is an opportunity for neighbors to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and enjoy an evening with neighbors in the community. Invite the HPD NNO Party Patrol to celebrate with you and your neighbors and together we will enjoy a night out and give crime a going-away party!

Safety Town

Safety Town is a week-long, half-day safety camp for five and six year-olds held each summer. Our camp covers a variety of safety education topics including bike safety, water safety, pedestrian safety, school bus safety, animal safety, fire safety, electrical safety, and much more. Camp registration is offered through Hillsboro Parks & Recreation and is instructed by HPD and local community partners.

Vacant Property Registration Program

The VPR Program is designed to facilitate timely notification to those with a vested interest in abandoned properties. Rather than the City assume the role of property manager, the registry provides a cost-effective path, allowing communication with local property managers responsible for the maintenance of distressed residential properties.

In collaboration with the Hillsboro School District, our team of School Resource Officers (SROs) focus on maintaining safe and positive learning environments for all students. Our SROs welcome you to get to know them and what is going on within the schools in our community.
