Property Evidence

The Property & Evidence Unit, an essential component of the department, provides for the security and control of seized, recovered, and safekeeping property. Our cross-trained professional staff have advanced training in property room management and crime scene processing and are eager to assist the public in recovery of their property as well as promoting awareness of forensic technology and its application to law enforcement.

Property

If you have had property seized for safekeeping or as evidence, you should have been given a property receipt at the time of seizure. Outlined on the bottom of the receipt is information pertinent to retrieving your property.

Safekeeping and found property will be held for 90 days. Known property owners will be notified by mail, when possible, to retrieve their property. It is the owner's responsibility to provide accurate contact information or alert the evidence technician to changes in contact status. If you are unable to retrieve your property within 90 days, you may provide a notarized letter authorizing a third party to claim the property for you.

Appointments for release of property or questions regarding property/evidence can be directed to our staff:
