Main Street Bridge Lighting by the City of HillsboroCreation: 2015
Medium: Color Changing LED Lighting
Location: Main St. and 18th Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124
Once a wooden trestle railroad bridge, the Main Street Bridge was replaced to accommodate the MAX system’s Blue Line light rail train. The City chose the iconic arch because it proved to be both economically competitive and aesthetically pleasing. Back in 1997, it was the only arch of its kind in the City. For many years, the City maintained small blue lights outlining the arch, but the light fixtures began to crumble with age. Now, LED projectors create a spectacular light show every night and save the annual maintenance cost of replacing light bulbs.
