On Main Street in Downtown Hillsboro won the 2018 Picture Hillsboro award. Prints of the image will be the official gift from the City to visiting dignitaries. The work captures a maple tree aflame with autumn color punctuating the view of Hillsboro’s historic Downtown. To depict the brilliant color, historic character, and peaceful mood of Downtown Hillsboro, he painted on location on Main Street and added finishing touches in the studio. 


Yong Hong Zhong developed a love for landscapes during his childhood in Canton, China. His artistic skills led him to a career at Disney Animation Studios, working on films such as Mulan, Pocahontas, and The Princess and the Frog. Since moving to Oregon, he has immersed himself in plein air painting, capturing the landscape in watercolor and oils. He also paints portraits and urban scenes, and participates in competitions nationwide.
