Playgrounds and Many City Facilities Closed

To slow the spread of coronavirus and protect our community members’ health, all playgrounds and many City of Hillsboro facilities are closed until further notice. Visit our COVID-19 webpage for the latest coronavirus updates or view our Facilities and Parks Status Map to see what's open.

Select Park Amenities Open

Dog parks, tennis and pickleball courts, Reedville Creek skate park, Orchard Park disc golf course, and Rood Bridge Park's watercraft launch are open. Other park amenities such as playgrounds, basketball courts, sports fields, and picnic shelters remain closed.

Parks and Trails Open

All Hillsboro parks and trails remain open for exercise and walking. Community members should take the need for physical distancing seriously and maintain at least six feet separation from others.

Hillsboro's many varied parks and facilities are excellent locations for parties, meetings, seminars, weddings, picnics or sporting events.

Walters Cultural Arts Center

The Walters Cultural Arts Center provides expanded opportunities for youth and adult art education, increased access to local, regional and national artists, and gorgeous meeting, banquet, and reception spaces.

Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center

The Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center features four pools, workout facilities including a cardio room and exercise equipment, locker rooms, the Kid Fit Room for onsite child care, and a multi-purpose room which can be rented for a child's birthday party or other event.

Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve

The 635-acre Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve features a diverse array of flora and fauna which can be observed from the 4.5 miles of trails and shelters, an observation deck overlooking the wetlands, a classroom, exhibit hall, and nature store. Classes and programs are offered here, and the classroom and deck are available to rent.

Hillsboro Community Senior Center

The Hillsboro Community Senior Center promotes and supports recreation programs and activities which benefit participants ages 62 and better.

Outdoors In

Outdoors In is an indoor playground located in downtown Hillsboro just off of the Tom Hughes Civic Center Plaza. This facility includes a full-sized playground system with slides, an 8’ tall climbing wall and more. Multi-purpose space is available to rent for birthday parties, events and meetings.

Tyson Recreation Center

The Tyson Recreation Center offers classes and programs and is available to rent for pre-school children's birthday parties (5 years old and under). Equipment includes a sound system, TV/VCR, indoor playground structure, gym mats, and toys. A staff person is provided for set up.

Sports Complexes

The City manages three sports complexes: Gordon Faber Recreation Complex, 53rd Avenue Sports  Complex and the Fairgrounds Sports Complex serve a wide variety of sports including, football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball and tennis. The complexes total more than 110 acres, and  include 150,000 square feet of all-weather turf.

River House

The River House is a wonderful facility for meetings, retreats, weddings, receptions, and parties, the River House features two meeting rooms, a kitchen, and restrooms. It is wheelchair accessible and overlooks beautiful Rood Bridge Park.
