 Paul Vinje

Paul Vinje

Paul, our Chief Plans Examiner, worked in the construction industry for 20 years before joining the City in 2003. He has worked hard to become one of only few Master Code Professionals in the state of Oregon. Outside of the office, Paul takes great pride in his teenage daughters, who keep him busy with their activities in school and art.

 

 Brad Senecaut

Brad Senecaut

Brad is our Plumbing Plans Examiner, he enjoys the positive and relaxed work environment the City of Hillsboro provides and does his best to focus on customer satisfaction. Brad’s favorite part of the job is “using my knowledge of the code and experience to help people take their ideas to a completed project they can use and enjoy.” During his free time, Brad enjoys skiing, playing musical instruments, camping and spending time with family and friends.

 

  Cody Gardner

Cody Gardner

Cody has been a Plans Examiner with the City of Hillsboro since 2017. Before working for Hillsboro he worked at the City of Newberg for 10 years in Code Enforcement and the Building Division. The best thing Cody loves about his job is “providing solutions and helping guide projects to issuance for customers.” The team describes Cody as being friendly, easygoing and hardworking. He is the most proud of his kids and enjoys camping, crabbing on the Oregon coast and spending time with his family.

 

 Hannah Loncharich

Hannah Loncharich

Hannah, a Plans Examiner, joined the City of Hillsboro in 2016. She enjoys “the opportunity to have positive interactions with the community,” and is appreciated for her friendliness and sense of humor. Hannah has the ability to see the best in everything and looks for opportunities to help Hillsboro customers have a great day. When she is not at work, she enjoys traveling, exploring the outdoors, visiting museums, and watching scary movies.

 

 Jason Phelps

Jason Phelps

Jason, a Plans Examiner for the City of Hillsboro, loves being involved in construction, looking at plans, and engaging with people in the permitting process. Colleagues have called him “hardworking” and “helpful” through the years he’s been with the City, six years with Newberg as a Commercial Buildings Inspector and Plans Examiner, and in his 16-year career in commercial construction where he specialized in steel stud framing and acoustical ceilings. Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending time outdoors and is especially proud of his children.

 

 John Rinier

John Rinier

John, Deputy Fire Marshal, has worked in the fire service since 1988. His career includes positions as a volunteer firefighter, professional firefighter, and fire marshal in charge of the Fire Prevention Division. Since joining the Hillsboro Fire Department in 1991, John has responded to numerous emergency incidents as a firefighter, emergency medical technician, and fire investigator. In addition, he has conducted fire inspections of commercial and residential buildings, reviewed fire protection system plans, and helped create the Fire Department's fire inspection database. Currently, John assists the Building Department with fire code compliance on new development projects.

John holds an associate degree in fire science and participates in state and national professional organizations.

 

 Kylie Kelly

Kylie Kelly

Kylie, Deputy Fire Marshal, is a master of both fire and water with a history in firefighting and SCUBA diving. Starting in 1994, Kylie was a Volunteer Firefighter in Newberg, a Deputy Fire Marshal in Canby and Vancouver, and then worked as a Dive Instructor in Panama. Kylie has brought a happy, optimistic attitude since 2011, when she started with the City. At work, Kylie enjoys engaging with the community and getting to know Hillsboro citizens. Her hobbies include traveling and SCUBA diving, and sometimes both! Kylie has visited 30 countries and has dived in Central America, Asia, Australia and islands in both the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

 

 Mike Barnes

Mike Barnes

Mike, Plans Examiner for the City of Hillsboro, enjoys reviewing building plans for residential structures, schools, hospitals, semiconductor buildings, high-rise buildings and other complex structures. His versatility and knowledge of a wide variety of codes allows him to provide exceptional customer service, no matter the project. Before working for the City, Mike served as a building inspector, homebuilder, construction supervisor, and carpenter for many years. Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with his family, instructing Tae Kwando alongside his daughter and playing with Harley, the family’s black Labrador retriever.

 

 Mo Tajdar

Mo Tajdar

Mohamad “Mo”, is our veteran Structural Engineer boasting over 20 years of experience with the City of Hillsboro in addition to previous service with Los Angeles County. Mo uses his skills as a team player and reasonable negotiator when working with engineers and professionals in solving complex issues and listening to all different approaches. Mo is known for being knowledgeable, friendly, and on time with projects. When he’s not problem-solving at work, Mo enjoys spending quality time with friends and family and exercising.

 

 Shawn Lippy

Shawn Lippy

Shawn, Lead Plans Examiner, joined the City in 2019 with previous experience as an inspector and plans examiner in City of Kalispell, Montana and City of Bend, Oregon. Shawn enjoys working with a lot of different people on various projects and his happy to be a part of the City’s Building Department. His fun and easy-going personality is a great addition to the team. Shawn is the most happy traveling, hiking and golfing outside of work.

 

 Tony Unger

Tony Unger

Tony, a Plans Examiner, joined the City of Hillsboro after 16 years of working in construction related fields including sheet metal, excavation, tile restoration and carpentry. Having grown up here in Hillsboro, he’s “excited to learn and grow through a new career in my hometown.” Others would describe Tony as very loving, sarcastic and funny. Tony has a passion for snowboarding and music, but most of all enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids.
