Goal: Engagement


Continue grassroots engagement to involve community perspectives on public safety.

Sub-Goals

Identify Opportunities to Improve Public Safety for Households & Business with Limited English Proficiency

Identify opportunities in the Fire and Emergency Services Community Risk Assessment to improve public safety, especially in households and businesses where there may be limited English proficiency.


Increase the Number of Households With Smoke Detectors

This is an ongoing partnership between the City of Hillsboro, American Red Cross, Home Depot, Hillsboro Community Foundation and Oregon State's Fire Marshall.

Fire Prevention Materials in Priority Languages

Distribute printed materials with fire prevention, safety, response, and reporting information in priority languages. Safety pamphlets and materials are available in Spanish; translation services are available upon request.

Host Fire Safety Classes for Community Members and Utilize City Interpreter Devices

Hillsboro Police Department will consult with the Chief’s Advisory Group to identify data needs for future reporting.

Hillsboro Police Department will work with the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission to increase the ability of the Chief’s Advisory Committee to understand STOP data.
