Appealing a citation
If you feel you were given the ticket in error you may appeal the ticket within 30 days of the issuance date by:
- Appearing in court and present your case to the judge in person. Court is held on Tuesdays at either 8:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. Please bring the ticket and your ID and check in with the clerk before entering the courtroom.
- By mail by submitting a written explanation along with the fine amount. The amount of fine must be posted in the form of a check in full for the explanation to be considered. If the Judge dismisses your citation the check will be mailed back to you without processing.
What to do if I do not own the car
If you received a letter or a citation regarding a vehicle you no longer own, you will need to provide a copy of the bill of sale, the DMV records of transfer of ownership that shows you did not own the vehicle at the time the ticket was issued.
