2022 Fire Code Update

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue has adopted the 2022 Fire Code as amended by the City of Hillsboro in Municipal Code HMC 11.28.010. If you have any specific questions related to this change, please contact our Fire Prevention Division office.

Our Fire Prevention Division provides community development plan review, compliance inspections, and fire investigations. For information reference the Hillsboro Municipal Code 11.28.020 .

Meet our Fire Prevention Division Team

	Martin Stapleton Division Chief/Fire Marshal Serving the industry since 1990. Responsibilities: Managing the day-to-day operations of the Fire Prevention Division, including programs for new development, code compliance, fire origin and cause, and community risk reduction.
	Elaine Davison Administrative Support Specialist Serving the industry since 2016. Responsibilities: Promoting community risk reduction through direct administrative support for the Fire Prevention Division team and customer service to community members in need of the division's programs and services.
	Armand Buesseler Deputy Fire Marshal II Responsibilities: Promoting fire and life safety through new construction inspection and fire investigation as well as assisting with community risk reduction programs.
	Ian Haney Deputy Fire Marshal II Responsibilities: Promoting fire and life safety through inspection of Institutional and Educational occupancies and fire investigation as well as assisting with community risk reduction programs.
	Joseph Ligatich Deputy Fire Marshal II Responsibilities: Promoting fire and life safety through review and inspection of Assembly and Mercantile occupancies and fire investigation as well as assisting with community risk reduction programs.
	Mike Mahar Deputy Fire Marshal II Responsibilities: Promoting fire and life safety through fire plans review and new construction and fire investigation as well as assisting with community risk reduction programs.
	Jeremy Menear Deputy Fire Marshal II Responsibilities: Promoting fire and life safety through review and inspection of High Hazard occupancies and fire investigation as well as assisting with community risk reduction programs.
	Mike Barnes Deputy Fire Marshal I Responsibilities: Promoting fire and life safety through inspection of Business and Factory and Industrial occupancies as well as assisting with community risk reduction programs.
	Jacob Haney Deputy Fire Marshal I Responsibilities: Promoting fire and life safety through plans review as well as assisting with community risk reduction programs.
	Jennifer Mares Deputy Fire Marshal I Responsibilities: Promoting fire and life safety through inspection of Residential and Data Center occupancies as well as assisting with community risk reduction programs.
