Step 1: Pick up a Summer Reading log at one of our outreach events around town (see calendar below) OR visit the Library to pick out a free book of your choice and get a reading log. 

Step 2: Complete the reading log

Step 3: Return the completed reading log to Brookwood or Shute Park Library to:  

• receive a Certificate of Completion
• be entered into a random prize drawing
• get a ticket to the End of Summer Reading Party  

Read for a Cause: support local performing arts by reading!

This summer, for every hour a teen reads, the Friends of Hillsboro Public Library will donate $1 to Bag&Baggage Productions, a local non-profit theater company.

Bag&Baggage brings the people of Hillsboro together through live storytelling & community-building events, anchoring the Cultural Arts District while driving economic prosperity for Historic Downtown Hillsboro.

Teens can log reading hours as part of our Plant a Seed. Read. summer theme—challenging themselves while supporting others. Every page turned helps fund fun, performing art experiences for youth in our community.

Join us in spreading the word and helping our teens read with purpose this summer!

Step 1: Pick up a Teen Summer Reading log (bookmark)  at one of our outreach events around town (see calendar below) OR visit the Library to pick out a free book of your choice and get a reading log bookmark.

Step 2: Complete the reading log bookmark to Read for a Cause. Every hour read = $1 donation to Bag&Baggage from the Friends of the Library. How much will you raise this year?

Step 3: Return the completed reading log bookmark to be entered into a random prize drawing at the end of Summer Reading, and get a ticket to the End of Summer Reading Celebration. 

Step 1: Pick up an adult Summer Reading BINGO card at one of our libraries or during an outreach event around town (see calendar below). 

Step 2: Return the card to Hillsboro Public Library once it is complete.

If you get a "BLACKOUT," you'll be entered into a random prize drawing for a Summer Reading tote bag with merchandise valued up to $100. Three participants will be awarded a prize.

OR 

If you get a BINGO line, you can pick a prize from a treasure chest.
