The Hillsboro Public Art Program works with other City departments as well as partners throughout the community to bringing art to public spaces. Hillsboro’s Public Art Collection includes over 80 works from locally, nationally, and internationally known artists. Public art helps create a sense of place, enlivens our neighborhoods, reminds us of our history, and celebrates our ethnic and cultural diversity.

The Walters Cultural Arts Center, located at the corner of Main Street and SE 5th Avenue, is a visual and performing arts facility that is home to a 200-seat theatre and event space, art galleries, and five classroom studios. Programming at the Walters includes live performances, art exhibitions and receptions, lectures, workshops, and a variety of arts classes. The Walters is also available to rent for private events such as weddings, parties, celebrations of life, meetings, trainings, and other special events.

In 2019, Hillsboro designated Washington County’s first Cultural Arts District in the heart of Downtown. Our District is anchored by the cultural hubs of Main Street and the Avenues, Shute Park and Avenida Diez/10th Avenue, and M&M Marketplace. The Cultural Arts District is founded on:
