La Strada dei Pastelli
La Strada dei Pastelli is a NEW weekend chalk art festival held in the Downtown Cultural Arts District on the third weekend in July.

Friday evenings in August mean free movies in the park that are fun for all!
El Grito
The El Grito holiday on September 16 celebrates Mexican Independence Day, as well as the independence of six other Latin American countries.
OrencoFest
Hillsboro's family harvest festival held at Jerry Willey Plaza at Orenco Station in early fall.
Halloween in Downtown Hillsboro
An annual trick-or-treating event & block party.
Holly Days

In November and all year long, we celebrate the rich and diverse culture and heritage of these remarkable Americans who deeply enrich the quality and character of Hillsboro, the Pacific Northwest, and our nation.

Native American Heritage Month is also the perfect time to learn more about the Kalapuya and Atfalati, the First People in Western Washington County.

The City of Hillsboro is proud to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women both local and worldwide.

The United States has honored women's history and accomplishments since 1981 with Women's History Week. Since 1995, United States presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as Women’s History Month.

Arab American Heritage Month

April

The City of Hillsboro is proud to celebrate the culture, contributions, and local community of Arab Americans.

It wasn’t until 2021 that Arab American Heritage Month became federally recognized with a designation by the State Department. In July of the same year Oregon became the second state in the country to permanently recognize Arab American Heritage Month.

Join us in recognizing and celebrating this rich & diverse culture by meeting notable scientists & activists, exploring local restaurants, finding books, movies, local organizations, and more!

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

During May and throughout the year, we are honored to celebrate the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AANHPI) people and the depth, breadth, and richness of their culture in Hillsboro and beyond.

We join the Library of Congress and a plethora of federal agencies in paying tribute to the generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history and are instrumental in its future success.

Pride Month

June

Celebrate everything that makes us unique and unites us at Hillsboro Pride Party 2025 on Saturday, June 7 at Shute Park! The fun continues with our Pride 5K & Celebration on June 20!

The City of Hillsboro proudly displays the Pride flag at the Civic Center and uses a Pride logo on social media throughout the month of June.

Latino & Hispanic Heritage Month & El Grito

September 15 through October 15

The El Grito holiday on September 15 marks the start of Latino & Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrates Mexican Independence Day, as well as the independence of six other Latin American countries:

Nicaragua

Mexican Independence Day honors the day Father Miguel Hidalgo, one of the nation’s leaders during the War of Independence in Mexico, made El Grito de la Independencia — the Cry of Independence. It is also known as El Grito de Dolores since it happened in the town of Dolores in the Mexican state of Guanajuato.

El Grito Celebration

Centro Cultural's 2025 El Grito Community Festival will take place virtually on Monday, September 15 at 8 pm through their Facebook and YouTube social media channels.
