Carnivore Ecologist
Dr. Christine Wilkinson is a conservation scientist, carnivore ecologist, and science communicator based at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the California Academy of Sciences. Her research interests include human-wildlife conflict and carnivore movement ecology – studying how wildlife moves and behaves in places where people live.
Christine’s research focuses mainly on hyenas and the often-contentious relationship between these misunderstood animals and their human neighbors (along with their livestock) around Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya.
Christine also conducts research on environmental justice and the social-ecological drivers of human-wildlife interactions in California. She looks to integrate a variety of community perspectives toward lasting and socially-just environmental outcomes.
