Dr. Izzy Bishop is a queer scientist that specializes in freshwater conservation, working to understand the quality of freshwater ecosystems across the globe. Izzy also leads a global citizen science project, Freshwater Watch, which works to monitor and protect the health of rivers and wetlands.

Izzy works at the intersection of ecology and geography, exploring the complex interactions between systems. Her work is primarily focused on helping to reverse global and local declines in freshwater biodiversity. Citizen science and community involvement in freshwater conservation are important themes within her work.

Izzy also enjoys being able to share science and educate people through the mode of stand-up comedy. Recently, she took home a top prize with the Sustainability Education Award for launching a 'Sustainable Stand-Up' course, using comedy to make climate education more accessible and emotionally resonant.
