The Community Senior Center is located in the corner of historic Shute Park at 8th and Maple Streets. This building is wheelchair accessible and the Dining Hall can accommodate up to 200 guests. Half the East Room accommodates up to 25 people and the whole East Room accommodates up to 50.

Rental hours: 6 pm to 11 pm, Monday through Friday and 7 am to 11 pm Saturday and Sunday. Call 503-615-1090 for rental information and room availability. Rental fees are listed below.

Guidelines

• Alcoholic beverages may be served at the Community Senior Center only with approval after complying with the Alcohol Usage Policy (see above). Some situations may require a Special Events License from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC). Inquire with OLCC at 503-872-5070 to determine if you need an OLCC Special Events License.
• The service and consumption of alcoholic beverages is restricted to the approved rented areas of all City of Hillsboro facilities. All service and consumption must meet OLCC requirements.
• The use of all tobacco products is prohibited on Parks & Recreation on property.
• Only freestanding decorations.
• No amplified music is permitted outside the building without Park Commission approval.
• No commercial or "for profit" use of the building is permitted.
• There is a projection screen and projector, but no laptop. There is free WiFi access.
• The person supervising the activity must be present at the Community Senior Center throughout the duration of the rental use.
• No special equipment may be brought in without prior approval. Examples include electrical equipment or lighting, musical instruments, platforms, props, etc.
• Rental groups are responsible to set up and return tables and chairs to their original location. Do not take tables or chairs outside of the building. 
• Groups need to provide their own utensils, plates, cups/glasses, napkins, condiments and other event related items.
• Renters are responsible to pay for all property damage to the facility resulting directly or indirectly from the conduct of any group member or invitees. Children must be supervised at all times.

Deposit

• A $55 refundable cleaning/damage deposit for the East Room and a $250 deposit for the Dining Hall (with or without Kitchen) is required with the Rental Application. The full rental fee is due 30 days prior to the event.
• The cleaning/damage deposit will be refunded if building and equipment are left in satisfactory condition. The deposit will be refunded the following week if paid by credit card or within three weeks if paid by check or cash.

Cleanup

A cleanup option is available for an additional fee. Otherwise you are responsible for cleaning the facility before leaving and clean-up time is to be calculated in your total time of use.

• Remove all decorations and everything brought to the facility for your event. 
• Leave kitchen area clean, wipe off all counters and appliances, and turn off all equipment.
• Sweep and clean all floors; clean up any spills and mop if necessary.
• All garbage should be bagged and placed in the dumpster outside. This includes garbage cans in restrooms. Replace garbage cans with clean liner bags.
• Cleaning equipment is located in the storage room.
• Please immediately report any damage or non-functioning items to the Facility Supervisor.
• Return tables and chairs to original location. 
• The supervisor will inspect the facility (with renter) at the conclusion of event.
• Remove all decorations and everything brought to the facility for your event.
• All garbage can liners should be replaced if used.

Facility Supervision

A Facility Supervisor will be scheduled at the Community Senior Center for your event. The Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring the event, inspection of facility following the event, and securing the facility.

Hidden Creek Community Center is open for parties full of active play! All party packages are three hours in length and include Party Room, activity time in gymnasium or Kids Club, Facility Supervisor, use of equipment, tables, and chairs. Reservations can be made up to 14 days in advance online, over the phone, or in person at Hidden Creek.

Gymtastic Play Zone Party

Maximum of 20 activity participants permitted in gymnasium. This package is for infant to 8 years old.

Hop, skip, jump, balance, and spin in Hidden Creek’s Gymtastic Play Zone, designed to engage your child’s physical creativity and body awareness through movement-based free play. There are different areas of age-appropriate play equipment for children. Active play is self-led and adult supervision is required. Instruction is not provided.

Sports Party

Maximum of 40 participants permitted in gymnasium. This package is for all youth.  

Let’s get moving! Have fun while developing cognitive, physical, and social skills through the power of play! Choose from Hidden Creek’s array of sports equipment and let kids run off their energy in our gymnasium. Tee ball participants should bring their own gloves. Play is self-led and adult supervision is required. Instruction is not provided.

General Information

• Rentals must be booked at least 7 days in advance.
• All rentals are 3 hours in length, which includes set-up and clean-up.
• Ongoing rentals are prohibited.
• Maximum attendance of 50 people.
• Full payment is at the time of reservation.
• The adult listed as the main contact on the reservation is required to stay on premises the entire time.
• For safety reasons, we encourage more than one adult to stay onsite during the rental.
• You will only be allowed to enter the facility at time stated on permit. Early admission is not permitted.
• You must exit the facility at time stated on permit. You will not be able to add additional time.
• Renters must cancel at least 72 hours prior to the start of the rental, unless otherwise specified, to receive a credit or refund.
• In the event you need to cancel your rental reservation, please call Outdoors In at 503-681-5244.
• Due to unforeseen circumstances, the City of Hillsboro reserves the right to reschedule and/or cancel the facility reservation. In the rare event a City cancellation should occur, your rental fees will be refunded in full.

Rules

• You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks, which are allowed in the classroom only.
• Alcoholic beverages, vaping, and tobacco products are not permitted on City property.
• Balloons must be weighted and secured at all times and are limited to the classroom only.
• All decorations must be free-standing. Nothing may be affixed to the ceiling, walls, window or floor. Tack, nails, staples, putty, and tape are prohibited.
• To preserve the integrity of our facility, we do not allow confetti, rice, birdseed, glitter, silly string, dance wax, real flower petals, fog machines, fireworks, sparklers or other similar items.
• The use of live candles is prohibited, except for birthday cake candles. Battery-operated candles are approved for use.
• Tables and chairs allowed on the tile floor only.
• No glass allowed on premises.
• Adult supervision is required at all times.

Rental fee includes a 2-hour event plus 30 minutes to set up and clean up (3 hours total).

Set Up & Clean Up

• Your event will be assigned a Facility Supervisor who will remain on premises for the duration of your event.
• Tables and chairs will be set up by the Facility Supervisor prior to your arrival. Tables will be in a standard arrangement. Renters will be responsible for any special table arrangements and for returning tables to original set up at the end of the event.
• Party activities must end and clean up must begin 30 minutes prior to the end of your rental time.
• The Facility Attendant will inspect the facility with you and check off the cleaning list at the conclusion of your rental.

Clean Up Responsibilities

• At the end of your rental, you are responsible for:
  • Wiping off and sanitizing tables and chairs.
  • Sweeping, and mopping as needed.
  • Returning tables, chairs, toys & play equipment to the location they were in upon your arrival to the facility.
  • Cleaning up any messes created during your rental.
  • Spray and wiping down any spills or sticky residue.
  • Bagging all trash.
  • Removing all other items you brought in.

Reservations

To check availability or for more information on booking your rental at the River House, please contact the Parks Administration Office at 503-681-6120 (option 9) during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm).

• Cancellations should be made at the earliest possible date. The deposit will be forfeited if a rental is canceled within 72 hours of the event start time.
• Due to unforeseen circumstances, the City reserves the right to reschedule and/or cancel the building reservation.

Rental hours

• 7 am  to 11 pm, seven days a week (if available).

• Renters are responsible to pay for all property damage to the facility resulting directly or indirectly from the conduct of any group member or invitees. Children must be supervised at all times.

Parking

Parking at the River House and Rood Bridge Park is limited and on a first come first served basis (117 parking spaces). The park is open to the public during daytime hours and may be busy during the summer months. There is absolutely no parking on grassy areas and in designated no parking areas.

The River House can accommodate up to 75 people in the winter months and 100 people in the summer months when the patio is available.

• The full rental fee is due 30 days prior to the event. Checks should be made payable to "City of Hillsboro." Visa/MasterCard are accepted. 

The Great Room has a maximum capacity of 75 persons, depending on the layout of tables and chairs. In the summer months, when the covered porch is also used, the building capacity is 100. Please discuss your plans with staff.

A Facility Supervisor will be scheduled at the River House for your event. The Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring the event, inspection of the facility following the event and securing the facility.

General Information 

• All birthday party and facility rentals must be booked in person at least seven days in advance.
• Rental time includes time for set-up and clean-up.
• Outside food is permitted. 
• Party streamers and confetti are not permitted. Balloons must be secured at all times and are restricted to the Multi-Purpose Room.
• Anyone choosing not to swim must watch from the designated spectator areas.
• Children age seven years and under must be accompanied in the water by a responsible adult, age 18 years and older, at a maximum of a 5:1 ratio of children to adults.

• Cancellation 4 days or more prior to the rental: Full refund of rental fee & deposit.
• Cancellation within 24 hours of the rental: No refund.

Details

• Fees are listed as Resident and Non-Resident based upon the address of the rental coordinator. Check your address through the link at the top of this webpage.
• All fees, including deposit and rental fee, are due at the time the rental is booked.
• Recreation Swim admissions may be paid on the day of the rental at the party start time based upon the number of guests in attendance.  
• Admission to Recreation Swims are not included in the room rental fee. Regular admission fees apply. See the Memberships & Fees webpage for details.
• To ensure proper set-up of the room(s), please provide an estimated guest count at the time the rental is booked.

Cleanup

• You must have the cleaning duties complete and belongings removed from the room at the rental end time.
• Supplies are stored in each Multi-Purpose Room to use. Please complete the following items:
  • Wipe down tables, chairs, counter top and sink with provided cleaning supplies.
  • Sweep floor with provided broom and dustpan.
  • Empty dust pan in garbage can.
  • Compile trash into one bag and place bag outside the Multi-purpose Room door.
• Please inform SHARC staff if you need additional help with cleanup (i.e. excess smudges on windows, liquid spill, and/or physical inability to complete cleanup.)
• Failure to clean-up after a rental, leaving the room after the allotted time, or failure to pay admissions, may result in a forfeiture of the cleaning deposit and/or additional charges.
