If this is an emergency, please call 911.

Non-emergency dispatch:

File an Online Report

The Hillsboro Police Department allows community members to submit a free online police report for certain incidents that do not require an in-person response.

To file online, the following criteria must be met:

  • This is not an emergency situation.
  • The reported crime is one of the allowable crime types listed below.
  • The incident occurred within Hillsboro city limits.
  • There are no known suspects or information about the crime that can be followed up on.

Frequently Asked Questions and Start a Report below.

What crime types can I report online?

If the crime you need to report is not listed, you cannot file it online. The online reporting system is not monitored live, if you need an immediate response, dial 9-1-1.

If your incident type is not listed below or does not meet the requirements, please call non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111 to file a report.

  • Hit & Run (non-injury)

  • Lost Property (excluding firearms and narcotics)

  • Theft (under $5,000 – excluding firearms and narcotics)

  • Unlawful Entry of a Vehicle

  • Theft of Vehicle Parts (examples - catalytic converter or wheels)

  • Vandalism or Criminal Mischief (excluding graffiti and/or hate crimes)

  • Supplemental reports to existing Online Police Reports
What happens after I file a report?
  1. REPORT your crime online. After you complete your report you will see "Your Online Report Has Been Submitted."

  2. RECEIVE a temporary report number. You will immediately be given a temporary transaction number. This is your confirmation number but not your official police report number.

  3. APPROVAL of your report. If your report is approved, you will receive an email with the official police report number. This is the number you need to file with your insurance company.

Filing a false police report is a crime (ORS 162.375). For detailed information regarding what constitutes a false report and the penalties associated with filing a false report please see Oregon Revised Statutes.

Will my case be investigated?
  • Due to the nature of the reports filed - they have no known suspects or information to follow up on - we won't be able to investigate most cases.

  • All cases filed through the online reporting system will be reviewed and will help us track crime trends and patterns.

  • The reports filed online are also usually the quickest and easiest way to get a report for your insurance company.

What if I need to change my report after I file it?

You will have the ability to file online supplemental reports. If you have already filed a report through the online system, we strongly encourage you to continue to update and add information through this system. This decreases the risk of filing the same report twice, and also makes it easier to keep your information tied to the correct report number.

You will need either:

  • Your temporary transaction (a T followed by eight digits)

  • Your police report number (Year of the report followed by five digits (e.g., 25-00017))
How long will my report take to process?
  • Your report will generally be reviewed within five to seven business days.

  • In the meantime you will be given a temporary transaction number to document your submission. This temporary number is NOT your police report number.

  • Once your report has been reviewed and approved, your report number will be issued to you by email.
I'm having trouble using the online reporting system.

You must use a Javascript-enabled web browser to access this site. You also must have cookies enabled, and pop-up blockers disabled.

If you would rather not use the online reporting system, you can request to file a report by calling non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111.

Why can't I report all crimes online?
  • Only crimes that have no suspects or information that requires follow-up, are not in progress and do not involve injury can be reported online.

  • Some crimes and incidents may require evidence collection or other investigative procedures requiring an officer's involvement.

  • Online reporting is primarily for documentation, insurance purposes and/or accurate crime reporting.
