Project Background
The downtown streets from East Main Street to Northeast Grant and North 1st Avenue to North 6th Avenue were recently part of a Downtown Streets Survey Project in which street conditions were assessed and rehabilitation needs prioritized. The 2nd Avenue Reconstruction Project has been identified as one of the first projects within this series to be completed through the Pavement Maintenance Program (PMP) for rehabilitation.
Project Details
The 2nd Avenue Reconstruction Project boundary includes six (6) city blocks: NE 2nd Ave: NE Grant St to NE Jackson St; NE Jefferson St: N 1st Ave to NE 2nd Ave; NE Edison St: N 1st Ave to NE 2nd Ave; NE Jackson St: N 1st Ave to NE 2nd Ave.
Proposed improvements include:
- Full pavement reconstruction
- Street widening
- Curb and gutter installation
- Curb extensions
- ADA ramps installation
This project will also improve the storm water system in the area by constructing new storm water collection and conveyance on all streets within the project boundary and water main replacement along NE 2nd Ave, and NE Jackson St. between 1st and 2nd Avenues.
