Preparing a Roadmap for Our Water Future
Long-term planning always has been a key component in the City of Hillsboro Water Department’s ability to meet customers’ needs in a growing and diverse community. All customers benefit from a highly reliable and redundant water system, much of which was planned decades ago.
In continuing with those efforts, the Hillsboro Water Department began the process to update the Water Supply Master Plan in 2017 to help guide wise use of water supplies.
The plan examines the City’s water system, recommends Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects, and details strategies for continuing to provide a safe, reliable, and sustainable water supply and service to customers in a cost-effective manner over the next 20 years.
From April 1 to May 24, 2019, community members are invited to review and provide input on the draft version of the 2019 Water Supply Master Plan and recommended CIP projects in several ways:
- Online: Review the draft 2019 Water Master Plan and the Capital Improvement Program and provide input by phone at 503-615-6702 or email.
- Event: Visit the Water Department’s booth at the City of Hillsboro Public Works Day event on Saturday, May 18 at the Civic Center Plaza to provide input.
- In-Person: View a hard copy and provide input in-person at the City of Hillsboro Water Department, located at 150 E Main Street, Third Floor, Hillsboro, OR 97123. Copies of the draft plan are also available for review at the Hillsboro Shute Park Library and Hillsboro Brookwood Library.
- Public Hearing: On Tuesday, June 11, at 1:30 pm in Conference Room 217 at the Hillsboro Civic Center, the City of Hillsboro Utilities Commission will hold a public hearing to receive public input and consider taking action on the draft 2019 plan.
A finalized 2019 Water Master Plan will be posted on this webpage by the end of 2019.
