Arbor Roses Residents

The Arbor Roses Homeowners’ Association includes 1 Gbps internet service in your HOA dues. This allows the provider to offer a neighborhood discount. Hillsboro HiLight is offering to replace the internet service provider currently providing service through the Arbor Roses HOA.

Choose to use HiLight as your neighborhood internet service provider and partner with the City of Hillsboro to improve digital equity, contribute to economic development, and enhance City functions.

HiLight service in Arbor Roses is dependent on a vote by the homeowners.

Help low-income families in Hillsboro
- HiLight Bridge is an income qualified program that provides low-income households with 1 Gbps internet and Wi-Fi management for $10 per month.
- Bridge customers represent 15% of residential HiLight customers, with more than 300 households subscribing through Bridge.
- Hillsboro HiLight has provided more than $505,000 in savings for Bridge subscribers.
- HiLight continues to work with Bienestar and other income qualified housing managers to add additional properties.

Why Does HiLight Even Exist?

A digital divide exists between wireline connected households and those that are not. Key factors affecting broadband adoption include household income and household age.
Incumbent provider programs were not closing the digital divide.
HILLSBORO SCHOOL DISTRICT recognized the need to connect all school facilities to fiber.
The City of Hillsboro recognized a publicly-owned fiber to the premises network could be used to:
- Reduce the digital divide
- Contribute to economic development
- Enhance public services

Arbor Roses Current Network & Implementation

Current Network

2” Conduit throughout
Conduit converges near the clubhouse
Single mode fiber to hardened Ethernet switches
¾” drop conduit
Ethernet (copper) drops from handhole into the home
HOA owns conduit
HOA does not own fiber or switches

Implementation (timeline to be determined)

Create an ingress path through Jackson Hollow – complete
Place a cabinet near to the clubhouse – this will be the only permanent above ground installation
Connect to conduit in Jackson Hollow and pull ingress fiber to the cabinet
Overpull fiber in existing conduit
- Will require temporary vaults placed above existing vaults
Schedule appointments with residents to migrate service from current provider to HiLight
Place the HiLight NID on the side of the house
Place the HiLight ONT inside near a power outlet
If resident subscribes to Wi-Fi Management, place GigaSpire router and configure service
Remove existing provider equipment and return or recycle
Provide ongoing excellent customer service
